Obituary of Allen Bates
Allen Bates, 72, was born on October 9, 1950 in Garden City, Kansas, grew up in Wichita, Kansas and resided in Gilbert, Arizona. He graduated from East High School and Butler Community College.
Allen passed away September 22, 2023 at home in Gilbert from liver cancer.
Allen will be remembered as a loving and protective brother and caring father and grandfather. He treasured his new and lifelong friendships. He had the biggest heart and was kind, thoughtful and compassionate.
Allen is preceded in death by son Anthony Bates and parents Henry and Eve Bates.
Allen is survived by his son, Chris Stone (April), granddaughters Rachel and Reagan Stone, of Surprise, AZ, sisters Terry Chapman and Jan Lutz (Dwane) of Wichita, KS, long-term significant other JoAnne Lush of Gilbert, AZ, lifelong friend Alan Cates and numerous extended family and cherished friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Anthony Bates Foundation, a charity near and dear to Allen that screens children and young adults for undiagnosed heart diseases. Please use the link below for donations.
A memorial gathering to celebrate Allen’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Winfield City Lake Memorial Forest.
