Obituary of Reynaldo Banaban Carranza

Reynaldo "Rey" Banaban Carranza passed away peacefully at home on March 19, 2022. He was 79 years old. He was born in Cavite City, Philippines on May 25, 1942, to the late Higinio and Herminia Carranza. In February 4, 1971, he joined the United States Navy on his path to become a US citizen. Shortly after, he met his wife Amelia Carranza and were married on September 19, 1972. Reynaldo and Amelia were married for 49 years and went on to have two children, Ray and Ron, who he taught the values of hard work, patience, and kindness. Reynaldo was a dedicated family man, devoted member of the Catholic Church, and proud veteran of the United States Navy. He charmed everyone he met with his sense of humor and fun personality. Lovingly referred to as Lolo "PopC" by his grandchildren, he will be missed by us all, but we take comfort in knowing that he is now resting in peace with the Lord. He is survived by his loving wife Amelia, his two sons, Ray and Ron; daughter in-laws, Marissa and Christina; grandchildren, Ava, Camilla, Lucy, Ariana, and Cayden; and his sisters, Cecilia and Lynn. He is preceded in death by his parents, Higinio and Herminia; brothers, Eugene and Edgardo; sisters, Letty and Fely; and grandson Elijah. A viewing will be held on Sunday, April 3 from 6pm to 8pm, with a 7pm Rosary service at Falconer Funeral Home in Gilbert, AZ. Mass will be on Monday, April 4, at 11am at St. Mary"s Catholic Church in Chandler, AZ. The Rite of Committal will be held at Gilbert Memorial Cemetery and a reception will follow with details given after the service.
