Matthew Council

Obituary of Matthew Jonathan Council

Matthew Jonathan Council was born January 1, 1981. He passed away after a year-long battle with cancer. A native of the Albany, New York region, he resided in Queen Creek, Arizona where he lived near his loving parents Estelle and Kenneth Council. He was a 1999 graduate from Niskayuna High School, Niskayuna, NY and an active member of the Greater Albany Chapter of Jack and Jill Inc where he served as Parliamentarian. After attending Hampton University and Arizona State University, where he majored in Engineering specializing in Product Development & Manufacturing, Matt founded Laemirah Enterprises, LLC, a "smart" home design, automation, and integrated systems business in 2018. He was president and CEO of the firm. Matthew is preceded in death by his brother, Patrick. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters Laelah, 15 and Samirah 10; parents Estelle and Kenneth; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and loved ones. A doting parent, Matt was the loving father of his daughters Laelah and Samirah. Active in most of their academic and extracurricular activities, he affectionately adopted the nickname of "Dance Dad" for his enthusiastic participation in an annual Fathers and Daughters Dance. Matthew was passionate and conversant on the political and social issues of the day. He was compassionate about the rights of the poor and underserved and empathized with the suffering of others. A man of faith, Matthew joined the non-denominational Compass Church in Arizona and was baptized in 2016. He believed in the Gospel of Jesus and embraced the truths of his many teachings. So, let us rejoice and take comfort in this eternal, everlasting truth: Nothing that is true, beautiful, and good is ever lost to eternity. Memorial services will be held at the chapel in Falconer Funeral Home , 251 W. Juniper Ave, Gilbert, AZ 85233 on Thursday June 3rd at 6:00 PM.
