DeAnn Bodenstab

DeAnn (Naylor) Bodenstab, 80, of Gilbert passed away on May 24, 2023, at Banner Gateway Medical Center as a result of the treatment she was on for Metastatic Breast Cancer she had been diagnosed with 7 years ago. DeAnn was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on December 29, 1942, to Lester and Fae Naylor. She was the third of four girls and grew up on a farm in Hansen Idaho.

DeAnn married Ron Bodenstab in 1962 and divorced in 1969. They had two children, Ronda and Lylle Bodenstab. DeAnn moved to the warmer climate of Arizona in 1971 for health reasons where she became employed and worked in the Hollow Metal Door and Frame business for 40 years, the majority of those years as an Estimator.

Artistic in so many ways, DeAnn enjoyed many hobbies, over the years, some of which she won awards. Her hobbies included oil painting, build-up art, papier mâché dolls, macrame, ceramics, including ceramic dolls, and jewelry which included glass beads (flame working) which she made. In the early days, she even styled wigs and made wedding dresses to earn additional money.

Giving back to the community thru her talents, she donated glass beads and/or jewelry to Beads of Courage, The Center for Transitional Neurorehabilitation, Arizona Disabled Sports, and We’re Moving Forward over many years.

DeAnn’s greatest love was for her family. She is survived by her two children Ronda (Curtis) Alcorn and Lylle Bodenstab of Gilbert Arizona; grandchildren Bradley (Kristina) Bodenstab of Apache Junction Arizona, Austin Alcorn, and Audra (Joseph) Loera of Gilbert Arizona; Great grandchildren Brennan, Logan, Olivia, and Joey on the way soon! Sisters, Carolin Hof of Boise Idaho, and Lila (Douglas) Carpenter of Gilbert Arizona; several nieces and nephews.

Known to all as “Grandma DeAnn,” she was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Known to her family as Gama Gan and Gigi, she has made a lifelong impression on so many lives and her mark on all of our hearts will forever remain.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held on Saturday, September 23rd at The Forum, 2301 S. Stearman Drive, Suite #4, Chandler AZ 85286 from 2pm to 4pm. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend.
