Obituary of Kathleen "Kathy" Meier
Kathleen Meier, age 72, of Gilbert Arizona passed away on April 9th . She was born 1950 in German Valley, Illinois to Henry and Gloria Miller. Kathy was the second oldest of five kids.
Her early life was spent in German Valley, Illinois where she graduated from Forreston High School in 1968, upon completion of high school Kathy then went to attend and graduated from Patricia Stevens modeling and finishing school in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Kathy then went on to work at First National Bank of Freeport and then onto Economy Life and Casualty Company. While working at First National bank, she was involved in a bowling league in Freeport, Illinois where she was introduced to her future husband Rodney Meier in 1969. On July 4th 1970 Kathy and Rodney were married in Honolulu Hawaii. In 1971 she gave birth to her first child Vincent. In 1972 Kathy and Rodney moved to Elgin, Illinois with their one year old son Vincent. In 1975 she gave birth to her second child Eva. Kathy’s profession while raising kids was working as a veterinary tech in a local animal hospital for fifteen years, following that she went on to become a pharmacy technician for another fifteen years at a local pharmacy. In 1997 Kathy moved to sunny Arizona with husband Rodney which was always their favorite spot for vacations.
Kathy enjoyed and had a passion for cooking amazing meals for family and much welcomed company into her home where she enjoyed entertaining. Kathy also enjoyed traveling with husband Rodney throughout the United States. In 2020 Kathy became involved in New Hope Community Church where she participated in small groups such as the Women of Hope with sister Sandy Derby. Kathy and Sandy enjoyed their sister time on Sundays.
Kathy is survived by her faithful husband Rodney Meier, son Vincent Meier of Gilbert Arizona , daughter Eva Meier of Nashville Tennessee, sister Sandy Derby of Chandler Arizona , sister Lorrie Gann of Leaf River Illinois, brother Dan Miller of Forreston Illinois ,brother Tom Miller of Ridott, Illinois and grandson Tyler Meier of Gilbert Arizona.
