Laurey Clark

Obituary of Laurey Tanner Clark

Laurey Tanner Clark,72, of Gilbert, AZ passed away from heart complications on February 20, 2023.  Laurey was born on June 15, 1950 in Phoenix, AZ at Good Samaritan Hospital to Lois Leetham Tanner and G. Stephen Tanner of Phoenix, AZ.  Laurey went to Madison Grade School and graduated from Camelback HS in 1968.

Laurey was a gifted dancer; she danced ballet, tap, and mazurka for 18 years.  She attended Brigham Young University in Provo, UT and graduated with a degree in social work in 1971. While attending BYU she met her sweetheart, Geoffrey Milligan Clark; they were married in the Mesa, AZ temple on June 2, 1972.  Together they moved to Las Vegas in 1976 where she and Geoffrey raised their five children.

Her greatest joy in life was being a mother; she devoted her entire life to caring, teaching, and supporting her children. Laurey was her children’s biggest cheerleader; she loved driving them to school, dance, choir performances, and baseball games. Growing up with four brothers she carried the nickname “the other mother.” This role continued as she was always willing to care for anyone who needed her. Laurey loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and she consistently emulated its teachings in all that she did. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who served faithfully in all her responsibilities. She was always found serving, caring, listening, and reaching out to help a friend.

She will be deeply missed, and will forever be remembered as a beloved mother and wife. Heaven is richer today because she is there. Laurey is survived by: Kristin, Adam, Jana (Mark), Ben (Emily), Scott (Lacie); brothers Stephen L., Craig, and David; and 14 grandchildren. Laurey was preceded in death by her parents Lois and Steve, her brother Sterling, and her husband Geoffrey.
