Norma Jean Young – McDevitt

Norma Jean Young – McDevitt of Mesa Arizona passed away on 1/17/2023 at her home at the age of 93.
Norma Jean was born in Ravenswood West Virginia on 8/19/1929, the only child of Ray Ruben and Itha Imogene Young. As a young child her family moved to Toledo Ohio where she was raised and adored by her parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Early in life she enjoyed ice skating, skiing, golfing, and going to the movies in her yellow chevy convertible.
After High School, she moved with her family to Arizona where she excelled in her modeling career. She earned her business credentials in bookkeeping, her professional career as an office manager and bookkeeper spanning 65 years until she retired in 2015 at the age of 86.
Later in her life she enjoyed cooking large meals for her family, holiday gatherings, reading, early mornings drinking her hot tea, crossword puzzles, and watching Nascar races.
She enjoyed putting her vast cooking skills to work as a volunteer at “Meals on Wheels”, also supporting many other charities.
Norma Jean lived a long life full of generosity and hard work.
Norma Jean had six children. One child predeceased her, five children survive her. Also surviving her are eight grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
She was loved and will be missed by her family, and friends.
