I worked with Matt for at least 20 years. I was lucky enough to work with the fifth floor Space and Marine group and enjoyed the programs and getting to ask questions about technology and the programs I was buying. Over time I recognized a handful of engineers who stuck out as exceptional at their job. Matt was one of them. His capacity to organize and direct at high levels was amazing. Matt was always pleasant and made time to talk to whoever needed it. Matt was on time and to the point while being kind and charismatic. His leadership in managing was equal to his engineering skills. I admired him as an elite engineer, manager and friend.

I have had the pleasure of working with Matt since he joined Honeywell in Tempe back in the 1990's, as an intern if memory serves me correctly. Smart and hard working, it was a joy to see him advance in his career. He often shared the pride and love he had for his growing family. Our opportunities to interact decreased as our jobs took us to different sites for ~15 years, but our paths crossed again a few years ago at the Tempe campus with offices 30 feet apart. How fortunate for me! His commitment to family, fitness and leading his team were inspirational and set a high bar for all that knew him. I valued every opportunity I had to get his input and perspective. Both of our families love to travel and Matt talked at length about how much he enjoyed a bucket list family vacation to Kauai. He cherished the extended, focused time with Tara and their girls. They have a knack for planning (understatement!) and Matt loaned us THE MOST THOROUGH travel guide binder that even AAA would envy and we planned a trip of our own. It was one of the best vacations we have ever had, and Matt and I enjoyed swapping photos afterward.
Words cannot adequately express our heartfelt condolences to Tara and family. We pray the day will come soon when the joys your shared together will bring you comfort. Lou & Brigitte

Matt and I worked closely together in the early 2010†™s on several programs. Since he was pretty reliable for a 5:30AM workout and in his office by 6:30ish, I†™d typically swing by and hijack his early morning to discuss program related issues and ultimately it would turn to non-work related topics. We both enjoyed the snow and he loved to talk about his snowboard adventures with his girls. As they matured and became more independent on their boards he wanted to get back to skiing. So I gave him a set of skis I wasn†™t using anymore, and he put in the research to buy some new boots. And you know Matt, he left no stone unturned in his research and boot fittings. So he down-selected on the perfect boots. Well, 1 ski outing later, his feet were numb and didn†™t recover feeling for several months after that. Of course, when he told me his feet were numb from the start of the day, I could only razz him for not stopping after a few runs, or at least lunch time. But no, he was determined to get the full day in. Not funny at the time, but we definitely had some laughs about it after he was able to start running again. Even after I started working out of the Phoenix site the last few years, I†™d still stop by his office every 1-2 months to catch up. It will be tough to walk by that door next time. Matt, we miss you buddy.

Matt was a such rare and unique man. We often worked together on the same projects the first decade of his career at Honeywell we and developed a special admiration for each other. As typically happens over time, our careers provided less daily interaction. Yet, every time we had an opportunity to see each other Matt would always set aside whatever he was doing so we could catch up. He made you feel like you were the most important person in his life at that moment. He was always so supportive and inspiring. I pray that we remember what he did for us and in his honor share his positive energy and support with others. My heart goes out to Tara and the girls.

Matt was my dear friend when we were both much younger raising families. We often had discussions on life and raising our children the right way and not be so influenced by the world around us. I got to know his kids and we had various family functions together. We worked together for 6 years and sat together for 4 those years. We had so many laughs and I can still hear the distinct laugh that he had. I would noticed something about him, say something, and Matt would slightly raise his chest, tilt his head sideways and go….†huh?† Then we would both laugh hard together. It was a quirk he had and as a friend I exploited it. He couldn†™t shake it. We shared many personal moments of life†™s struggles of being sole providers for our families at that time through layoffs and pressures of the job. I regret losing touch with him in 2006 as he went onto the space group to eventually become a manager and I became devoured by A350XWB for the next 12 years. I would often see him in the hallways and he was ALWAYS smiling. I very much missed his friendship and the closeness that we had. This for me is the tragic lesson of Matt†™s passing. I will miss him the rest of my days. God love you Matt. You were a wonderful human being that touched some many lives in a positive way and even in death, we that are left behind are learning to reach out love our friends, brothers, and sisters again. I LOVE you Matt.

We have lost a fine engineer and an even better person. I worked with Matt for many years at Honeywell. He was easy to work with and committed to doing the best job that he could. We shared an interest in cars and motorcycles and we liked to talk about the latest hot vehicle which neither of us could afford. He also liked to talk about his wife and daughters, of whom he was quite proud. I will remember Matt as a friendly, conscientious colleague who was a pleasure to work with. My condolences to his wife and daughters.

Matt was on the panel of Managers that interviewed me at Honeywell. I had been a contractor at Honeywell and was applying for a permanent position. I was describing a task I performed rewriting a test procedure. How the previous one lacked good instruction. What I didn†™t realize was Matt was the person who wrote the instruction I had just ridiculed. Matt just smiled. When I realized that the Matt in the room, was the same Matt that wrote the instruction, I tried my best to double back and make what I had just said sound better. Matt just maintained his smile and continued on to the next question and let it pass. Matt always had a smile on his face ever time I walked into his office and never held a grudge or even brought it up. I didn†™t work with Matt Very often but I could tell how much love he had in his heart.

I am so sorry to hear this news. I knew Matt for many years at Honeywell, the last few years we sat close together on the 5th floor of the 1207 building. Just a fine man, very friendly, always a kind word. Being a motorcycle guy, Matt and I spent many a conversation talking motorcycle riding, gear, etc. RIP Matt. My heartfelt condolences to the McClure family.

My heart aches for a man and family that I respect and hold to the highest esteem.
I will always remember Matt as an awesome athlete that would perform his †œfamous† flip into the pool at your family†™s summer party.
His smile was infectious and his soft spoken demeanor held my attention as he would tell a story or life experience.
I always looked at him as a dedicated husband and wonderful loving father.
I can truly say he was an inspiration and positive influence in my life. I will miss him dearly.
With much love and respect,
Louis Jacquez and Family

I had the pleasure of knowing Matt for only a short time at Honeywell. I truly looked up to him as an engineer and a person. He was always so friendly, kind, and caring to everyone who was lucky enough to cross paths with him. I want to thank Matt for being a positive role model in my life, and so many other young engineers. Matt and his family are in my prayers.

I had the pleasure of working with Matt for 13 years. Matt had a way of putting a fun spin on any situation. He told us once of slight embarrassment of buying a single ticket for himself to see a children's movie, because Tara and the girls were already inside reserving the seats. When we had the company softball team, Matt had volunteered to pitch. After giving up a homerun, he threw his glove in the dirt in disgust (mimicking one of the Diamondbacks pitchers a week earlier). That gave us all a good laugh.
I did see Matt (being a cheer dad) with his family at several YCA cheer competitions. I want to thank Matt for mentoring me when we started working together, and for his candor as a manager. You are missed, and you will always be in my memory.

I had the privilege to work with Matt early in his career at Honeywell Aerospace. What struck me most about him was his integrity and his positive attitude towards everything. I always found Matt to a friendly face around the office.
I want to express my deepest and most heartfelt sympathies to his family and friends. Matt often talked about his family and they were a great source of joy for him. His legacy will live on in those who he loved the most as they continue to carry his memory in their hearts.
