Obituary

Eleanor J. Haugh, age 93, passed away on April 7, 2019 in Mesa, AZ at Bella Vista Senior Living. She was born on December 20, 1925 in Wichita, Kansas to Andrew Martin Shirk and Genevieve Abigail (Matney) Shirk. On March 30, 1946 she married the love of her life, James L. Haugh. They celebrated 69 years of marriage before Jim unexpectedly passed away on July 14, 2015. Together they had two sons and one daughter. Eleanor was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a devout Christian, spending many quiet moments praying for the safety and health of her family. She attended the First Southern Baptist Church of Yreka, CA and Hessel Union Church in Sebastopol, CA. She enjoyed taking care of her family, cooked wonderful meals, planted vegetable gardens and grew beautiful flowers. Her favorite plant was the Daphne bush and she wrote the poem below.

Oh, The Daphne
Fragrant jewel of the winter,
She sets the stage for Mother Nature’s dazzling springtime show,
A preview of earth’s resurrected beauties,
As her crimson buds unfold to white, lemon scented blossoms.
She awakens our senses to the promised rites
Of springtime’s miracle of rebirth and renewal – Eleanor J Haugh

She is preceded in death by her husband, James L. Haugh. She is survived by her three children, Michael Haugh of Kingman, AZ, Danny (Janet) Haugh of Santa Rosa, CA, and Denise (Steven) Azevedo of Gilbert, AZ; nine grandsons, two great-granddaughters and her sister, Susanne F. Williams of Allen, TX.

Ellie was like a 2nd mom to me growing up as I was best friends with her beloved daughter Denise from age 6 on. I will remember Ellie as always patient, always kind, always gentle with a sweet, sweet smile. She loved God and her family and they were first in her life. I remember being amazed when she would darn her families socks. I am happy Ellie is home with Jesus and reunited with her dear hubby. I will be praying for her family as I know that even when you know that your loved one is completely healed and in heaven it leaves a hole in your heart here on earth. I know that you will honor your mom's life by living your life here on earth. Thank you Ellie for letting me be a part of your family. With love and prayers, Lynn
