David Langager, age 94, passed away peacefully in his home in Mesa AZ on January 7, 2018. David was born on June 13, 1923 on a homestead farm in Ray, North Dakota, the eighth of nine children. David is preceded in death by his parents, Sigvard and Marie Langager, and his siblings, Otto, Ingeborg, Ester, Serine, John, Silas, and Eldor. He is survived by his sister, Marie Jensen, wife, Esther Langager of Mesa, Arizona, three sons, John, Eric, and Mark, and daughters Mary, Melody, Anne and Christine, along with 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
David graduated from Luther College, Decorah, IA, and Lutheran Brethren Seminary in Fergus Falls, MN. Throughout his adult life, David served as a missionary and church planter in Japan and the United States. He was also a mentor to many young pastors as they began their ministries.
Wherever they lived, David and his wife, Esther, tried to create an home environment that included horses, camping and outdoor adventures with his children, grandchildren and other friends and family.
During his retirement, he also continued ministering and preaching every Sunday to his fellow residents at Fellowship Square for many years.
David loved his family with all his heart and took every opportunity he could to spend time with them. This love extended to the broader church family that he lived to nurture. He will be greatly missed by all.
